About the Trainer
Janet Skinner is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer, a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and an AKC CGC® Approved Evaluator. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral & Social Science from the University of Maryland.
Janet has experience teaching dog training classes in both a professional and volunteer capacity. She has also participated in pet therapy activities with her dogs and earned titles in competitive Agility and Rally-Obedience events.
Janet has volunteered with local Greyhound rescue organizations over the years and served as a “foster mom” to dozens of ex-racing Greyhounds. She is a member of Greyhound Rescue and Adoptions of Tampa Bay and writes the Pawsitively Speaking training column that appears in the group’s quarterly newsletter.
She is a volunteer at Pinellas County Animal Services and also serves on the Rescue Committee for the Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay.
Janet currently has four dogs of her own – a Greyhound, a Miniature Schnauzer, and two Scottish Terriers, all but one of whom were adopted from a rescue or shelter.
Fostering and adopting dogs with behavioral problems has given Janet the understanding and empathy that is so important in a pet dog trainer. She has been through it herself and fully understands the frustration that can result from having a dog or puppy with “issues.”
When you take a Think Pawsitive! training class, you can be assured that Janet wants to see your dog succeed as much as you do!
